FAQ: Cannot view online documentation with Acrobat Reader v5.0

This information applies to:

SUMMARY: 

Adobe Acrobat version 3.0 or later and the SACS Security Key plug-in are required to view the SACS online documentation.  If Acrobat Reader v5.0 is installed, Adobe Acrobat will generate the following error:

“This document could not be opened because the plug-in required by the ‘SACS_Secure’ security handler is not available.”

The default settings for Acrobat Reader v5.0 must be modified to use Acrobat Reader v5.

MORE INFORMATION:

The default setting for Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 must be changed to allow the SACS online documentation to be viewed.

    1. Launch Adobe Acrobat Reader v5 and then select Edit|Preferences|Options and deselect "Certified Plug-ins Only".
    2. Close Acrobat Reader.
    3. Manually install the SACS Security Key plug-in.  Information on how to install the plug-in may be obtained at
