FAQ: How to Manually install SACS Plug-in for Adobe Acrobat

This information applies to:

SUMMARY:

Adobe Acrobat version 3.0 or later and the SACS Security Key plug-in are required to view the SACS online documentation.  If the SACS Security Key plug-in are not installed, Adobe Acrobat will generated the following error: 

“This document could not be opened because the plug-in required by the ‘SACS_Secure’ security handler is not available.” 

MORE INFORMATION:

  1. If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader 3:
    1. From the SACS 5.1 CDROM, copy the SACS50.API file from the “system\docs\plug_ins” directory to C:\Acrobat3\Reader\PLUG_INS directory.
  2. If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0(the default version installed by the SACS installation):
    1. From the SACS 5.1 CDROM, copy the SACS50.API file from the “system\docs\plug_ins” directory to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 4.0\Reader\plug_ins directory.
  3. If you have Adobe Acrobat Writer 4.0,
    1. From the SACS 5.1 CDROM, copy the SACS50.API file from the “system\docs\plug_ins” directory to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 4.0\Acrobat\plug_ins directory.
  4. If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0,
    1. From the SACS 5.1 CDROM, copy the SACS50.API file from the “system\docs\plug_ins” directory to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\plug_ins directory.
  5. If you have Adobe Acrobat Writer 5.0,
    1. the SACS 5.1 CDROM, copy the SACS50.API file from the “system\docs\plug_ins” directory to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Acrobat\plug_ins directory.
