FAQ: Setup reports not enough space during installation

This information applies to:

SUMMARY:

When the SACS installation is launched, the setup tries to determine if Adobe Acrobat is installed. If it is installed, the setup tries to determine the location of the “plug_ins” subfolder for Adobe Acrobat.

Before copying files, the SACS 5.1 installation verifies that the destination folders have enough free (available) space.   If the setup incorrectly identifies the “plug_ins” folder, the setup will generate an error indicating that your computer does not have enough free space.

There are two conditions where this problem has been documented:

  1. If Adobe Acrobat is not currently installed on the target computer, the setup will prompt the user to install Adobe Acrobat Reader v4.05.  If the user selects “No”.
  2. If Adobe Acrobat v5 is already installed, then this error is generated.

MORE INFORMATION:

Engineering Dynamics, Inc. is working to correct the installation and will notify users when a permanent solution is available.   If you are experiencing this issue please do the following:

  1. If the setup prompts to install Adobe Acrobat and you don’t want to install it, allow the Acrobat installation to continue.  After the SACS 5.1 installation is complete, you can uninstall Adobe Acrobat v4.05 by:
    1. selecting the “Uninstall Adobe Acrobat 4.0” shortcut in the “Start” menu
    2. from the Add/Remove applet in the Control Panel, select Adobe Acrobat 4.0 and then click the “Add/Remove…” button.

Note:  If you remove Adobe Acrobat, you will not be able to view the SACS Online Documentation.

  1. If Adobe Acrobat v5 is installed, manually install Acrobat Reader v4.05 from the SACS 5.1 installation CD.
    1. Run the setup.exe located in the <CDROM drive letter>\Acrobat40 directory.
    2. Rerun the SACS 5.1 for Windows installation.
